De Stijl- Lego Mario

Art movements in the past have and will always be integrated into modern day's design, where we draw inspiration - whether directly or not - into our work. In this project, I am tasked to apply a significant art movement into a modern poster, promoting a brand or a product.
Chosen Brand

Lego have launched a Mario franchise with iconic Lego sets that die-hard fans would remember. How can I promote Lego while incorporating visual elements of Mario?

Style

Grids, rectangles, squares, building blocks. Lego and De Stijl seems to share a commonality- rectangles and squares. With these similarities in mind, I decided to apply the art of De Stijl into a poster for Lego. Following blocks of color confined within rectangular shapes (or legos), this is the design direction I am aiming for.

Mario's Unique-ness
His iconic red and blue outfit will not be mistaken anywhere. Following Lugi, who also has his iconic green and blue outfit. These striking colors can be used for subtle representation in the poster.
